Carlos Rivera
My name is Carlos Rivera. I'm 22 years old, and I was a member of the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster for 6 years.
When I think of the Club, I remember the Collectors Club -- Collecting rocks, cards etc. Basically anything that you could collect! I also remember the Yo-Yo Tournaments.
The Club staff were my mentors. The Club was a safe place, and a social outlet to come and hang out with old friends and meet new friends.
My favorite memory of activities or events that I participated in at the Club include the Sports leagues, annual awards banquet, and pizza on Fridays.
I wouldn't be where I am today if I weren’t a member of the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster. The club helped with my confidence; it helped me learn how to talk to people. The staff and friends at the club helped me stay positive when I was at my medical worst. They were available to be great references for jobs. Today, I am working at Conestoga View as an LPN.
The Club is a place where kids can have fun with their friends and stay safe while learning all kinds of different games and skills for the future!
