The Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster is looking for motivated and dedicated college students who are committed to making a difference in their community!
Spring, summer, and fall internships at the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster provide practical, hands-on job experience and “life after college” preparation. Employers in all fields seek individuals who are community-minded and concerned about the world they live in. We offer a welcoming environment, experienced mentors and a creative and innovative atmosphere.
Students in this program will be placed at one of our four Clubhouse locations in Lancaster City or Columbia. In order to get to know our culture and Club members, all interns will spend their first 20 hours shadowing experienced staff in program areas and building relationships with kids, ages 6-12. After 20 hours, interns will be assigned a specific activity, age group, or initiative to work on more in-depth.
You would like this internship if you:
- Are looking for a way to build experience in the youth development field
- Have lots of patience and kindness
- Can function well in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
- Know how to think on your feet and use common sense
- Thrive doing hands-on activities (sports, arts and crafts, etc.)
All majors are welcome to apply. Clubhouses are open Monday-Friday in the afternoons. In order to plan ahead, we require that interns commit to working at least 20 hours through a consistent weekly schedule between the hours of 3-7 p.m.
Please Note: Interns may not begin hours until required background checks (from within the last year) have been submitted and approved by the Director of Program Operations, Mary Reidy.
